FAQ Questions and answers for salt-free technology TAC - Scalestop
What is TAC and ScaleStop™ from Next Filtration ?
ScaleStop™ is a limescale protection technology developed to protect plumbing components, pipes, fittings, valves, heat exchangers, hot water tanks, etc. from the negative effects caused by hard water. ScaleStop™ is an environmentally friendly alternative to achieving the effects of soft water as opposed to traditional water softeners or limescale filters that add salt to the water. Scalestop™ prevents limescale build-up by converting dissolved minerals into crystals. These crystals are effectively kept isolated in the water, unable to form limescale deposits and react with e.g.
soap, shampoo, detergent and others
detergent.
Simply smart technology!
How is ScaleStop™ different from a water softener?
ScaleStop™ uses a specially designed media to collect and convert dissolved minerals (calcium carbonate) into an insoluble and isolated microscopic crystal so that
the lime in cannot react with other surfaces and build traditional limescale deposits. Water softeners, on the other hand. Uses the principle of "ion exchange"
To remove limescale from the water, calcium is exchanged with sodium ions (salt). A water softener requires a control valve, backwash, electrical installation and a drain.
Not to mention the space to store all that salt. ScaleStop™
Requires nothing more than water in and water out and minimal space.
Does Scalestop™ remove important minerals in the water?
The answer is No. Scalestop™ preserves beneficial
minerals that we need and depend on while preventing any negative limescale formation associated with
these minerals. By rendering the minerals harmless while keeping them present, you really get the best of both worlds.
Is ScaleStop™ compatible with biological treatment plants?
Yes. ScaleStop™ is excellent and
does not affect the biology in the treatment plant unlike softeners, limescale filters "ionization systems! Where the salt destroys
biology.
What are some of the best uses for ScaleStop™?
Practically all applications where you want to avoid limescale caused by hard water.
Best limescale protection for water heaters? Probably because it is always in operation
Other uses for ScaleStop™ are:
Example: Hotels, Restaurants, All properties and accommodations, Irrigation systems, Steam generators, Solar heating systems, Electric heaters,
Heat exchangers, dishwashers, washing machines and many restaurant and food processing machines that use water/steam are all ideal for the ScaleStop™ system.
Differences between softeners and ScaleStop™ are:
To begin with, we would like to highlight that ScaleStop™ is not a salt-free ionization technology.
ScaleStop™ does not use salt in the technology and we do not remove minerals from the water.
ScaleStop™ causes limescale to react so that it cannot build up limescale deposits and react with e.g. shampoo, soap and other cleaning products. Minerals can become visible where stagnant water evaporates e.g. in bathrooms. Minerals are easy to clean and do not build up hard surfaces. In the dishwasher, an acidic rinse aid may be needed to help with the cleaning.
ScaleStop™ protects your infrastructure. What really costs to maintain and replace. Everything under the hood, so to speak!
